Pose #9 Assignment: Disgust

This character’s name is Clyde, a young arctic fox whose dream is to sail the seas. Born to a prestigious family and sheltered from the ‘riff-raff’ of the world, it was a terrible shock when Clyde found himself washed up on the beach of a town inhabited by pirates. Finding unlikely friendship with these marauders, Clyde chose to pursue his dream and joined their crew. However, a pirate’s life on the sea hasn’t been an easy adjustment. Sea sickness, bowls of dreaded salmagundi, and less-than-acceptable conditions on the ship plague him at every turn. Soft-spoken and easily perturbed, Clyde often appears withdrawn and reluctant to make contact with anything for fear of sullying himself in any way. His upbringing keeps him from truly accepting his new life or coming to terms with the fact that the ‘riff-raff’ he was warned about could become such hospitable, loyal, and good-hearted friends. The most visually important part of the poses is Clyde’s shoulders, as the tenseness and raised positioning of them adds a lot to how he uses his body to express himself. I want the audience to look at Clyde’s face, as this is where his emotions are most strongly expressed, however, I think his tail helps to express this as well. The center of Clyde’s weight is located in his hips, supported by his metapodials, as his feet are digitigrade; this gives him a spry, almost jumpy stance.
